Detailed day-by-day itinerary for 3 Days Mgahinga Gorilla Trekking Safari in Uganda

Day 1: Transfer drive from Kampala to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

You will depart from Kampala and stopover at the Equator for photography at the world’s center line. You will then continue with the journey through the western Uganda highlands to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. As you drive through the country side, you will witness incredible beauty, scenic landscapes, vegetation and birdlife. You will arrive and check in at your already booked accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga

After early morning breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing from the park guides. Thereafter head to the jungle for gorilla trekking that starts at 8:00 am. Head to the forest for a trek that lasts about 2 to 4 hours or more depending on where the mountain gorillas have spent their night.

After locating the gorillas, you will spend a maximum of 1 hour in the presence of the gorillas. After your trekking experience, you will trek back to the starting point. Remember to carry some drinking water and snacks or foods to keep you energized. You will receive a congratulatory certificate at the park headquarters and then transfer to the lodge for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Return drive from Mgahinga to Kampala
